Michael Benzinger is a multi-award-winning Creative Director, Copywriter, and Brand Strategist. He develops creative brand and communication strategies, cross-media concepts, narratives, and global campaigns.
Throughout his career, he has worked for some of the most prestigious national and international agencies and for the world’s most iconic brands. His portfolio of achievements is as diverse as it is visionary: he enabled Chinese design students to design their own Volkswagen, briefed Christina Aguilera for a number-one hit, conceptualized a “dark ride” attraction in Sweden, and developed the world’s first commercial created with a 3D printer.
Michael believes in the power of creativity as the driving force behind everything that truly moves us forward – without it, our world would be nothing more than 001101001000100101110.
Lo Breier was my long-standing creative partner, mentor, and companion. As a Senior Creative Consultant, typographer, and designer, he shaped visual culture for decades. Together, we developed the vision and the logo for the “Beings” project, among other works.
He was the driving force behind legendary zeitgeist magazines such as Wiener and Tempo and founded the agency Büro X. His impressive portfolio of clients included institutions and brands such as ARD, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Munich Re, Springer, Gruner & Jahr, Der Spiegel, Burda, and the Schauspiel Frankfurt.
Beyond his work as a designer, he curated and realized significant exhibition projects, including:
“Focus on…”, Städel Museum Frankfurt
“Lo’s Hawara”
“Design talks Politics”, designxport Hamburg
“Sigmar Polke, Photographs 70-80”, Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen
As a Professor of Corporate and Communication Design at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Folkwang School), he passed his vast knowledge on to future generations. In 2020, the Art Directors Club (ADC) honored Lo Breier with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
His spirit and his uncompromising aesthetic remains an integral part of my work.
